REPORTS TO: Chair, Central Office Review Committee and President of the Denomination
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Synchronous, virtual employment with one in-person event annually. Part-time with benefits
SALARY AND BENEFITS: $51,000 (3/4 time) with benefits that include pension contribution, two weeks of PTO, 1 week of sick time, and health care subsidy
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a communications point person for the Swedenborgian Church of North America, maintaining membership and mailing lists and facilitating communication between different churches, groups, and committees, including distributing memos. Serves as liaison with outside vendors and service providers for the denomination. Must be available by phone and email for a set number of hours every week that accommodates both East and West coasts of the US and Canada.
- Plans meetings and events for the denomination including the Annual Convention and various board and committee meetings, as requested. Secures meeting reservations and contracts for in-person gatherings of the General Council, Council of Ministers, and Standing Committees. Attending all of these meetings in-person is not expected, however virtual attendance of some kind often is and may be on a weekend.
- Oversees the Annual Convention in partnership with the President of the denomination. The Annual Convention is typically a multi-day hybrid event with approximately 125 in-person attendees and 75 remote attendees hosted in different locations across North America. The process starts with finding and securing an appropriate location, planning for and managing the event, and the post event wrap-up. Manages all of the details of the event, including the management of 2–3 employees. Works to ensure that the costs of the annual Convention are budgeted appropriately and that adequate registration fees are established. Attends and directs operations at the annual Convention Session for approximately seven days.
- Serves in an HR capacity as needed, including writing job descriptions for new positions, screening and interviewing new hires, and sending termination letters when necessary. Also maintains employee records and annual reviews.
- Assists with the drafting and editing of memos, handbooks, etc. for committees, as required.
- Ensures the denomination’s electronic presence exists and remains current on the Internet. Helps maintain the denomination’s website and creates additional interfaces and content as needed (for example, grant applications, registrations forms, Annual Convention information, posting the annual (redacted) Journal, etc).
- Be the contact person who, through our web page “contact me form” and email, answers questions and, with the assistance of the President of the denomination, directs inquiries to the appropriate people.
- Creates and manages the online interface for denominational grant requests. Compiles the requests and works directly with applicants to ensure that their applications are complete before submitting them to the Treasurer of the denomination for review.
- Compiles, edits, prints, and distributes the annual Convention Journal. This includes the collection, compilation, and publication of the Advance Reports in May.
- Maintains the Swedenborgian Church of North America’s records digitally and is able to search and retrieve them as requested.
- Serves on the Standing Committee of Communication and Information (SCCI) in an ex officio role.
- Identifies inefficiencies and works to save money and time for the denomination through correction of those inefficiencies. Reviews in-place systems periodically to ensure efficiency.
- Special projects as requested by the Executive Committee of the General Council.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience in high-level office administration is desirable.
- Event planning experience
- Knowledge and familiarity with religion and spirituality is beneficial
